Funny cars
The first funny cars were built in the mid-'60s and so-called because the rear wheels had been moved forward on the chassis, increasing traction on the rear tires, which gave them a larger body as compared to stock cars. Looking at the cars, they didn't quite look like stock, cars, hence the name "funny."

Funny cars boast of forward-mounted engines and carbon fiber automotive bodies over the chassis, which makes them look like manufacturers' showroom models.

Top Fuel teams
Top-Fuel Racing involves racing with vehicles running on a maximum of 90% nitromethane and about 10% methanol (also known as racing alcohol), instead of gasoline. The cars have a layout resembling open-wheel circuit racing vehicles, on the surface. However, they are much longer, much narrower built to optimize their performance exclusively in a straight line.

Pro Mod teams
The Pro Modified car is somewhat similar to a Pro Stock race car, yet they have their differences.. Whereas Pro Stock can still be identified with street racing, Pro Modified car is modified quite a bit. These cars display a forward-facing (with the opening in front) hood scoop for nitrous injected cars, or the hood may be cut to fit a supercharger. Also, a Pro Modified car is usually fitted with a long, flat wing which aids in stability, and helps keep the car on the ground
